Under The Oaks In Burleson

Dear Friends,

It's hard to believe that the Holiday Season is upon us and Thanksgiving is right around the corner!  As I reflect on the past year and take stock, I am thankful for so many things.  I am thankful that I live in the greatest country in the world and enjoy the freedom to live and do as I please.  I am thankful that I still have my 92 year old parents and for the upbringing I had with them.  I am thankful to have a job with a great company.  Finally, I am thankful for the many wonderful people I've had the opportunity to meet and help while with Oak Creek Homes.  I wish each and everyone a safe and blessed Holiday Season with your family and friends.  Thank you for being the best customers in the world!

Radiant Barrier - It's Not Just For Summer!

Priced at an astounding .20 cents per square foot, radiant barrier is a HIGH VALUE LOW COST option that continues to save our clients money every month. With this in mind a 1700 sq.ft. home would cost $340….wow!

The Department of Energy defines Radiant Barriers as a product installed in buildings to reduce summer heat gain and winter heat loss, and hence to reduce heating and cooling energy usage. ASTM defines a radiant barrier as having an emittance value of .1 or less.

In other terms, a Radiant Barrier SAVES MONEY by reflecting heat, reducing the amount of energy needed to heat and cool a home!!!

In the winter, a radiant barrier keeps indoor heat from escaping through the roof and walls and reflects it back into the house. As a result, your house stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.  In the summer, Radiant Heat from the sun penetrates the roof and walls of a house, but a radiant barrier blocks that radiant heat from entering the home.

Why LP TechShield as a Radiant Barrier?

TechShield sheathing is manufactured with a patented incising process that creates vapor channels for moisture to pass through, releasing moisture nearly as fast as standard roof sheathing.  Most other radiant barrier products can trap moisture from early construction exposures that may lead to deterioration of the substrate and surrounding building systems. TechShield radiant barrier sheathing – now with quick drying “breathable” technology for even faster drying under roof.

LP TechShield is backed by an amazing 20 year limited manufacturers warranty.

November Recipe

As an alternative to Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving, try this recipe.  It is wonderful!

Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes

1 (18 1/4 oz.) package yellow cake mix

1 egg

8 Tablespoons butter, melted

1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened

1 (15 oz.) can pumpkin

3 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

8 tablespoons butter, melted

1 (16 oz.) box powdered sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions:  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg and butter and mix well with an electric mixer.  Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

To  make the filling:  In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and pumpkin until smooth.  Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter, and beat together.  Next, add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and mix well.  Spread pumpkin mixture over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.  Make sure not to overbake as the center should be a little gooey.

Serve with fresh whipped cream.
