Eventually, we hope to hold gatherings in the east and west of Toronto as well, and for anyone out of town who would like to organize an FTN group, we will send you our ideas. It is important to share triumphs and frustrations, get fresh ideas and above all, to celebrate a year of hard work and to be able to look forward to September!

FTN is a professional support network created for teachers, both new and experienced. We realize the importance of on-going education and mentoring for teachers of French. The French teacher, often the sole person in that capacity in his/her school, can feel somewhat isolated.
Belonging to a support community is an important resource for these teachers.  We are here to assist teachers in delivering the best possible French programs and ensure the successful language acquisition by all FSL students.
FTNprovides our members with proven ministry-endorsed instructional strategies and new ideas for enhancing the curriculum. We offer training in classroom management and support with other common teacher concerns. Our focus is to equip teachers with skills, ideas and techniques for providing effective programs in their classrooms. Quality teaching is the greatest single factor in ensuring student success. We provide the mentoring and networking needed to enable teachers to feel confident and capable.
We created our Network because we found that both new and experienced teachers feel the need of a support arena … a golf club of their own, so to speak, where the specific needs of the French teacher can be addressed and discussed. Interaction with colleagues who are teachers of French and sharing experiences is a high priority. As well, teachers are requesting our workshops in which we deal with teaching strategies, behaviour management, learning styles, and a host of other issues unique to the teaching of French.
